The baking soda will have dried out and then you can scoop it off the carpet. Rinse the site with cold water and blot the damp carpet with a dry cloth to absorb the moisture in the carpet.

Liquid Dish Soap Carpet Stain Remover

Another home remedy is using ¼ tsp of liquid dish soap in 1 cup of warm water. Put the mixture in a spray battle for proper application. Blot at the site and spray until the stain is gone. Use cold water to rinse the site. Make sure to remove all of the soap out of the carpet. Use a dry cloth to help dry the carpet.

Remove Old Pet Carpet Stains with Hydrogen Peroxide

When cleaning a pet stain, use 4 tbsp of hydrogen peroxide and 2 tbsp of water with a few drop of liquid dish soap mixed together in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the stains and then use a cloth to blot at the stain. Again rinse and dry the site.

Commercial Carpet Cleaner Solution for Pet Stains

If you find a homemade cleaning solution isn’t quite enough and want to turn to commercial grade cleaners, there are a few recommended choices. Some recommended commercial cleaners are Resolve, OxiClean, or Spot Shot. Follow manufacturer’s instruction and always rinse the site after cleaning. However, avoid using too much cleaner as they can make the carpet sticky.
